GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A lack of financial resources is causing Michiganders to lag behind those in other states in terms of health outcomes. That is according to a new study from the Citizens Research Council of Michigan.

According to the paper, Michigan has worse health outcomes than people who live in neighboring states and across the U.S. The report examined the social determinants of health that contribute to this negative outcome.

"General conclusion from all of this is that not only does Michigan have poor health outcomes, it also has poor health disparities," said Karley Abramson, health policy research associate. "Our health disparities between populations are larger than others."
