GALLATIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - Volunteer Fire Departments in Sumner County will soon be getting some financial help.
The fire departments will receive part of $600,000 in funding. The funds will be spread across 13 volunteer fire departments.
Sumner County Commissioners spent nearly 40 minutes Monday going back and forth about how much the departments should receive.
Some commissioners said it was appalling to even debate whether or not the departments should receive money.
Ultimately, the resolution passed, and the measure will now head to a committee that will decide how much each department will receive.
