MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (WITN) - A Lot of Direction, Love & Affection held its annual Thanksgiving food distribution this morning, drawing a queue that started as early as 4:30 a.m. and brought in families from across the region.
“These cars are coming from all over. They’re from Duplin County, Sampson County, Wayne County, all the way as far as Wilson and Lenoir counties,” said Danny King, ADLA executive director.
King said the organization started the day with 1,100 turkeys and 750 hams, preparing to serve as many as 1,800 cars.
Volunteers from surrounding communities helped distribute the food, including Hayley Sink, senior vice president of Community Health and Innovation at Trillium Health Resources.
