A local developer plans to bring new life to one of downtown Minneapolis' most distinctive buildings.

CDT Realty Corp. announced Monday that it has acquired the 6-story building at 20 Washington Ave. S., part of the three-building Washington Square complex.

The Minneapolis-based firm did not disclose how much it paid for the building. Record of the sale has not yet been made public via the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

CDT Realty founder Chad Tepley hasn't shared specific plans for 20 Washington Ave. S. yet, but intends to pursue historic tax credits so the 182,000-square-foot building will be converted to a use other than office, like residential or entertainment.
