CASS COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Belton man is behind bars after leading police on a pursuit over a defective taillight.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy attempted to pull over 59-year-old Rodney Camp at around 2:20 a.m. on I-49 in rural Peculiar for a taillight that was not working.
Instead, Camp accelerated his car and led authorities on a pursuit that passed North Cass Parkway, where Belton Police Department officers successfully used tire deflation devices.
Eventually, Camp’s car stopped near Red Bridge Road in Kansas City, where his car became undriveable.
Camp is now charged with felonies for driving while revoked and aggravated fleeing a stop.
He’s being held in the Cass County Jail on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
