KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Killeen ISD elementary students will now have a new way to make sure they are off their phones during the school day.

The new phone lockers are not the Yondr pouches currently in use at the middle and high schools but they are similar.

Recently passed House Bill 1481 requires students to not use their phones during the school day.

As part of those new guidelines, Killeen ISD is changing the wording in their student code of conduct.

“At the beginning of the year, the code of conduct instructed students not to bring their devices to school. What the board did tonight is update that code of conduct to say elementary students can now bring their devices,” says Karen Rudolph with the district.
