GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The Greenville Planning and Zoning Board Commission motioned on Tuesday to approve a city recommended proposal to amend its “Bar 2022″ ordinance.
City staff proposed increasing the maximum size from the 2022 Bar ordinance from 2,000 to 3,500 square feet and allowing bars in more commercial districts.
The update would also include 500-foot separation requirements from single-family homes.
For microbreweries, the changes would let them apply for a mixed-beverage permit and increase their size limit to 8,000 square feet.
The discussion comes after the city raised questions about balancing alcohol establishments with quality of life and public safety.
