ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Atlanta will host eight World Cup games in 2026, and there’s a chance a player with deep connections to the area could take the pitch.

Louicius Don Deedson scored in the ninth minute against Nicaragua, and it was all Les Grenadiers needed to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup. It will be their first World Cup since 1974.

Deedson grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, and moved to Georgia when he was 15. He played at Kalonji Soccer Academy in Gwinnett Academy, leading the academy to a US U18 Youth National Championship in 2019.

He also spent some time in the Atlanta United system before beginning his senior career with Denmark’s Hobro IK later that year. He joined Odense Boldklub in Denmark in 2023 before making the move back to the U.S. with FC
