MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A dangerous intersection will soon be safer for drivers.
Starting Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will have signs posted at State Route 83 (Avon Lake Road) and State Route 162 (Chatham Road) letting drivers know the intersection is becoming an all-stop intersection.
The change will happen on Dec. 3.
According to ODOT, the intersection is currently a two-way stop, requiring only traffic along SR 162 to stop before entering or crossing SR 83.
Between 2019-2023 there were 21 crashes at that intersection and 17 of them were angle crashes, according to ODOT.
ODOT officials added a roundabout would “provide the greatest safety and service benefit,” but there is no funding for the project at this time.
