EDGECOMB, Maine — Maine Development Foundation and the Maine Economic Growth Council releaded the 31st annual Measures of Growth Report Wednesday, outlining the state’s economic strengths as well as several areas officials say require urgent attention.

The report, which was unveiled during a 10 a.m. press conference at Glidden Point Oyster Farm in Edgecomb, finds Maine continues to excel in environmental stewardship, public safety and internet connectivity. It also highlights positive movement in entrepreneurship and growth in the labor force.

But the report raises concerns about declining K–12 test scores, the rising cost of housing and what it describes as persistently low investment in research and development. Those challenges, the authors say, will require coordinated and innovative
