STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani announced Wednesday that one high-profile position will remain filled by its current occupant.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch will continue her work under Mamdani, despite being originally selected by outgoing Mayor Eric Adams.

Tisch took up the post in November 2024 as the 48 th commissioner of the NYPD.

“I look forward to working with Commissioner Jessica Tisch to deliver genuine public safety in New York City.
