NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Council has moved a bill forward that would establish a Metropolitan Animal Care and Control Commission.

The council approved its second reading during a Tuesday night meeting. If the proposal passes its third reading, a commission will be established to serve as an advisory entity and liaison between Metro Animal Care and Control, the Metropolitan Board of Health and the community.

The group would aim to enhance public engagement and strengthen department operations, according to the Metro Council agenda analysis.
