A new chapter opened for many young children in New Hampshire’s North Country earlier this year when Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library began mailing free books to their homes each month, but a local nonprofit that helped cover the cost of shipping is now worried it may not be able to continue its support after losing federal funding.

The future of the Education Alliance for New Hampshire’s partnership with the country music legend’s Imagination Library is uncertain following the U.S. Department of Education’s elimination of its grant funding on Sept. 30.
