GREENVILLE, S.C. —
The AC Hotel in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, has released a statement after rumors began circulating online of immigration officers being spotted outside.
The social media posts began surfacing Monday night. On Tuesday, a representative for the hotel said they were aware of the posts but did not provide further comment.
On Wednesday, the hotel released the following statement on social media:
"We are aware of the rumors about the AC Hotel Greenville and found no basis for them.
"We do not track guests' occupations, and we are required by law to protect their privacy.
"Auro Hotels remains an inclusive member of the Greenville community."
The rumors come as immigration enforcement operations have recently expanded into North Carolina .
