GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - As immigration raids intensify in the state, protests are being held here in the east as concerns about immigration raids are growing.
After recent ICE activity in cities such as Raleigh and Charlotte, residents fear Eastern North Carolina may be next.
Residents rallied at the Greenville Town Common to speak out against any future action.
“I know that my families are afraid to go out, my friends are afraid to send their kids to school,” Alycia Cruz, who organized the protest, said. “We’re seeing people getting picked up in the pick-up lines...out of Raleigh and Charlotte and we’re just hearing so much from the community of fear, panic.”
Demonstrators say they’re urging local leaders to oppose any future action.
