NEBRASKA —
In the past five days alone, four deadly pedestrian crashes occurred, killing three people in Omaha and one in Lincoln.
Among those killed was Kristine Hess, a 61-year-old former chief operating officer for Together Omaha. Lincoln police say she was killed on Saturday when a flatbed tow truck driver hit her near the intersection of 48th and St. Paul streets.

Hess also served on the board of multiple community organizations and was most recently serving as the director of operations at Civic Nebraska.
President and CEO of Together Omaha Mike Hornacek said Hess was the COO for eight years, but he has known her and her family for nearly 15 years.
