A man launched a drunken attack on his partner on Christmas Day, leaving her fearing for her life. Stephan Mann, 41, had been verbally abusive towards the victim throughout the day in 2024, accusing her of being unfaithful to him.

Mann, who had been drinking heavily, told a friend he wished the victim was dead. He threatened to hurt her on multiple occasions.

At about 4pm, he tackled her to the floor and stamped on her head, while threatening to kill her. Mann’s friend managed to intervene and stop the attack so the victim could get to safety and call the police to the property in Soham, near Ely .

At Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (November 13), Mann, of Valerian Gardens, Soham, admitted actual bodily harm and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. He was jailed fo
