The average salary for school superintendents across New Jersey increased less than 2% last school year, but some of the top earners made well over $300,000, the latest state data shows.
The highest-paid superintendent in the state was Norma Fernandez , the leader of the Jersey City Public Schools. She earned $322,272 in the 2024-25 school year while overseeing one of the state’s largest districts, according to the data. (Look up your school district’s superintendent salary in the chart below.)
