GREENSBORO, N.C. — Students at NC A&T and UNCG are pushing back after learning their early voting sites are closing.
Students feel their voices are being silenced.
But according to the Guilford County Board of Elections, that’s not what is happening, and this isn’t new.
The Board says early voting sites change all the time, and they’re based on turnout.
The board says the campus sites at A&T and UNCG saw around 800 early voters during the last presidential election.
Because of low use, the county shifted those resources to busier locations.
Importantly, election day precincts on both campuses will still be open.
The Board says this isn’t a permanent change. If student turnout jumps, they can reopen early voting sites or add new ones.
