GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - After months of investigation, Gainesville High School history teacher Lauren Watts was disciplined for giving a student a superlative titled “Most Likely to Become a Dictator.”

A letter obtained by TV20 states that the Investigative Review Committee found probable cause for disciplinary action against Watts.

She was suspended for one day without pay, required to complete sensitivity training, and required to submit a written reflection on her treatment of students.

The action stems from an incident in 2023, where students in her class voted a student “ Most Likely to Become a Dictator. ”

“You publicly embarrassed a student and failed to intervene when other students made disparaging comments,” the reprimand states.
