CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - From wildfire smoke to dust - different things impact the quality of the air.
Now there’s a third testing site in Linn County to measure what we’re breathing.
The new air monitoring site is on the Southeast side of Cedar Rapids directly across from the McKinley Steam Academy’s parking lot.
The trailer at the site has two sensors on top that pull in air and detect any particle pollution or toxins.
That information helps determine the air quality and can alert the public if quality potentially becomes dangerous.
Just like this past summer when another Cedar Rapids site detected dust particles in the air due to wildfires in Canada.
Linn County Public Health said it wanted to add another Cedar Rapids site so it could monitor even more of the city.
