BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Traffic cameras installed around LSU’s campus have generated 731 parking citations since August, the university said.
It’s part of a program that LSU approved at the end of the summer, which is being handled by LSU Parking and Transportation Services.
The cameras are placed inside gray bollards placed around campus, including at Nicholson Gateway across from Tiger Stadium. Signs above the poles read “No Parking” and “Parking Enforcement Cameras in Operation.”
One driver received three citations totaling $975 for parking violations. The driver said he was stopped in his car while entering a fire lane near campus and did not get out of the vehicle when he stopped. He said someone exited his vehicle, and he continued on, but by then the camera had already snapped
