DALLAS — Jerry Jones is the General Manager of the Cowboys . He is ultimately responsible for the roster. He believes he deserves football credit, which he has long been denied. I’m here to deliver some, which I’m sure he would consider most unexpected and long overdue.

He no doubt would have preferred to have earned it when the Cowboys were winning Super Bowls three decades ago, not when his team’s record hasn’t been above .500 for more than a year, hasn’t won consecutive games this season or defeated an opponent with a winning record. But here we are.
