MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With just 183 seconds remaining in his collegiate career, Marcus Caldeira refused to see his Mountaineers fall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Caldeira tallied the game-tying and game-winning goals in a span of seven minutes, to send WVU on to Round of 32 with a 4-3, overtime win over St. John’s. The senior and Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year did not start the match, yet he scored a hat trick, giving Caldeira 41 career goals in a WVU uniform.

West Virginia (13-4-3) advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Mountaineers will visit No. 10 High Point Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Caldeira was injured in practice on Tuesday and was a game-time decision to take the field against the Red Storm.
