CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The Public Employees Insurance Agency Finance Board gave West Virginia residents a final opportunity to share their opinions on the proposed insurance changes during a virtual meeting Thursday.
The board is proposing a 3% increase in monthly premiums, which includes a $200 monthly spousal surcharge. If approved, the increases would take effect on July 1. This proposal comes after premiums and deductibles rose by 14% this past July.
There were vocal crowds during in-person meetings in Martinsburg, Charleston, and Morgantown over the past week.
During the meeting, a key point repeatedly raised was that legislative changes are needed before any further action can take place.
Resident Janet Kesner said that Berkeley and Jefferson counties are experiencing population grow
