Tropical Cyclone Fina is tightening its grip on the Northern Territory, with Darwin now under a full cyclone warning as authorities brace for what could become a direct hit on the Top End within hours.
The cyclone is currently a category one system, but is expected to increase to category two on Friday as it nears the city.
The warning has already set off a cascade of cancellations and emergency planning across the region, including the AFLNT calling off all scheduled games in Darwin this weekend.
Further major decisions are looming, with the Territory Management Committee expected to rule on school closures as the system edges closer to the coast.
Communities including Mingjalang, Warawi, Milikapiti and Pirlangimpi have already shut schools ahead of the cyclone’s arrival, as residents
