HOWELL TWP, Mich. (WILX) - Howell Township residents loudly shared their opposition Thursday night to a proposed data center project.
“Now, I hate everything about this,” resident Chuck Taylor said.
The Howell Township Board voted unanimously to approve a six-month moratorium on all actions involving the proposed development.
On Thursday, the board put a pause on the establishing, permitting, approval, and installation of any data center in Howell Township.
The board heard roughly two hours of public comment from residents of the township and beyond who wanted to make their concerns clear.
Some complained about transparency from the company building the data center and from the board members themselves. Others spoke out against the harm data centers can cause to the nearby environment
