RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle Thursday near Riverwalk Vista in the Broad River Road area, but the driver accelerated, leading to a brief pursuit.
According to RCSD, the deputy initiated a traffic stop for a law infraction and activated emergency equipment. The vehicle then sped away, prompting what the department described as a “very short pursuit.”
Deputies say the chase ended when the driver reached a dead-end road and came to a stop.
Deputies say the scene remains active and the investigation is ongoing.
