A teenager has been bailed after his mother offered to stump-up a $50,000 surety, as he is accused of causing the death of a woman and her unborn child.
Police alleged Aaron Papazoglu, 19, drove his BMW sedan through a red light and collided with a Kia that had stopped to allow the young woman to cross the road on November 14 in Hornsby, Sydney’s northwest.
The Kia was allegedly bunted forward and into pregnant mother Samanvitha Dhareshwar, 33.
She was rushed to Westmead Hospital where she later died with her unborn child.
Mr Papazoglu faces charges of dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and causing the loss of a foetus – death of a pregnant woman.
On Friday, he appeared before Downing Centre Local Court via video link wearing his prison greens.
