An 83-year-old retired Army Colonel was defrauded online in Bengaluru. The fraudsters posed as Mumbai police officers, interrogated him, asked for bank details, and swindled 56.05 lakh rupees. All this was done in the name of RBI verification. Following the victim's complaint, the police registered a case of cybercrime and fraud and started an investigation.

According to the FIR, on October 27, the Colonel received a call on his mobile. The caller identified himself as Mumbai Police Inspector Sanjay Pishe and said that people were being abused using a SIM card issued in the Colonel's name. He was asked to come to Mumbai for questioning in this matter.
