Police have made an arrest after a man was injured in a stabbing in Stockport. Officers were called to Clwyd Avenue in Edgeley at 2.15pm yesterday afternoon to reports of a stabbing (Thursday).

They attended the scene, close to Alexandra Park and Stockport Country's Edgeley Park ground, along with paramedics. The air ambulance was seen landing in the busy park, with a cordon put in place.

One eyewitness said on social media they saw a man 'running out of the park with a load of blood down him' around the time of the incident. View 2 Images

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said this morning (Friday).

A force spokesperson said their injuries are not thought to be life-changing
