The Blantyre Central Magistrate Court has denied bail to videographer and social media personality Kenneth Makina, popularly known as VJ Ken, who is facing charges of sexual activity with a minor and unlawful custody.
Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Bonongwe emphasized that bail is a constitutional right but is granted only when the court is satisfied that the accused will not interfere with the administration of justice.
The court ordered VJ Ken to pay a K100,000 bond, provide a K100,000 cash surety, surrender his travel documents, and report to Ndirande Police Station daily while the case is ongoing. The magistrate also warned that failure to appear in court could lead to further legal consequences.
