A privately-funded £120 million scheme to deliver hundreds of new homes and a major community leisure centre has been unveiled for Hythe, replacing an earlier, controversial plan for chalet-style housing. The proposal by the GSE Group focuses on the development of the western half of the under-utilised 40-acre private Hythe Golf Club site.

The plan follows the developers’ scrapping of a previous, widely opposed proposal to build 150 holiday chalets across the entire course. If approved by Folkestone & Hythe District Council, the new plans would create 48 three-bedroom houses and 243 apartments, many of which would have coastal views.
