Social media platform X has been hit by its third major outage in less than a week, with thousands of users reporting problems accessing the site on Thursday afternoon.

According to Downdetector, reports surged within minutes as users across the UK, Europe, the US and other regions said the app had stopped loading and timelines were failing to refresh. Most complaints centred on the mobile app, though many said the desktop website was also experiencing issues.

It marks the latest in a string of technical problems for the platform.

On Tuesday, a separate outage left millions of users unable to use X for around an hour, with error messages appearing across both Android and iOS apps. A smaller outage was also recorded earlier in the week.
