In January 2024, Gov. Mike DeWine called a news conference and called out the manufacturers of intoxicating hemp products that look like candy, are sold in gas stations and aimed at kids. He wanted them banned.

Nearly two years later, the legislature is still bickering over the idea – despite the fact that the federal bill ending the government shutdown this month ended the loophole that allowed such sales.
