Those are safeguards that Boston College Athletic Director Blake James has tried to install for when sports betting by college athletes, coaches and department staff members becomes legal, according to NCAA rules.

Starting on Nov. 22, the NCAA will allow its coaches, athletes, and staff personnel to place wagers on pro sports. They are still prohibited from betting or sharing information with other bettors on any college sporting events.

Even with the exclusion of betting on college sports, this is a drastic policy change for the NCAA. Times have certainly changed in the landscape of college athletics.
