GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — An infant in Galveston County has been diagnosed with botulism , and the case is believed to be connected to a multistate outbreak linked to infant formula .

The Galveston County Health District shared the information on Friday and said federal and state officials were investigating.

The 4-month-old child was hospitalized and placed on a ventilator while receiving recommended treatment.

On Nov. 11, ByHeart Inc. recalled all of its infant formula products due to the outbreak.

How many children are affected?

As of Friday, there were 31 infant botulism cases across 15 states. All of them required hospitalization, but no deaths have been reported.
