KALAMAZOO, MI -- Kalamazoo Public Schools has agreed to sell a parcel of land just north of downtown Kalamazoo.
The 0.38-acre parcel was sold to the Ecumenical Senior Center, 702 N. Burdick St. The district’s Board of Trustees approved the sale at a Thursday, Nov. 20 meeting.
The Ecumenical Senior Center will pay $1,000 for the parcel in addition to closing costs, according to the meeting agenda. The parcel does not have any street access and borders the senior center’s property, as seen in pink, below.
The senior center is expanding into a new construction four times the size of its previous building . The senior center’s 4,000-square-foot building was torn down in May.
The new 16,000-square-foot building is expected to open in fall 2026.
