AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating after a 17-year-old boy was found shot on Friday morning.
According to a department spokesperson, police responded to a shooting in the area of Russell Avenue and Yeager Way at approximately 11:39 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the teen, who had sustained two gunshot wounds.
The teen was transported to an area hospital and was undergoing surgery as of 2:45 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Akron police say the investigation is in its early stages.
