NORTH CAROLINA, USA — The North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission presented a Resolution in Memoriam to Officer Michael Horan’s family Friday, recognizing his sacrifice in the line of duty.

The resolution honors Horan’s service and commitment as a law enforcement officer.

Greensboro Police Officer Michael Horan died from multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot inside a Food Lion on Dec. 23, 2024 .

Horan, who was 44, was the first officer to respond to a call about a man with a firearm at the Food Lion on Lawndale Drive that day.
