SHOW LOW, AZ (AZFamily) — A Navajo County deputy jumped into action to rescue three people after a medical transport vehicle erupted in flames earlier this week.

On Tuesday around 6 p.m., a Navajo County Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling on State Route 77 near Show Low when she saw sparks coming from underneath a medical transport vehicle. As the deputy was pulling the vehicle over, the cab filled with smoke.

The deputy quickly got all three people out, including one that needed a wheelchair. However, as the driver attempted to get back inside to get his phone, the deputy stopped him before the flames ignited.

As she was safely moving everyone away, the flames spread, fully engulfing the vehicle. Luckily, no one was injured from the fire, authorities said.
