COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A man is facing charges in Richland County after allegedly entering a local mosque armed with a rifle.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said 29-year-old Adam White turned himself in on Thursday and was charged with disturbance of a place of worship, aggravated breach of peace, as well as two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm.

According to the sheriff’s department, White allegedly went into the mosque on Nov. 9 carrying an AR-15 rifle and disturbing worship. RCSD also noted that surveillance video from the mosque showed he talked to some children present and showed them the gun.

RCSD said the situation involving White wasn’t reported until Nov. 14. Efforts to find White went public on Nov. 19, a day before he turned himself in.
