BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Former speech-language therapist Lynn Plourde has published a new middle grade novel called “The Bionic Boy” in late October.

“‘The Bionic Boy’ is a middle grade novel that tells the story of 11-year-old Benji, who was born without hands and was adopted from the other side of the world into a Bangor, Maine family. One thing that helps Benji learn to speak English is watching superhero cartoons. Benji falls in love with superheroes and dreams of becoming a hero himself somehow, someway, someday. But Benji is shy and unsure of himself and it’s harder to save the day when you are missing something important like hands.
