SPOKANE, Wash. — Holiday activities are kicking off all over downtown Spokane this weekend as families prepare for skating at Riverfront Park and a chance to meet Santa.

The skating ribbon at Riverfront Park opens to the public at 11 a.m. Saturday. It's one of several activities ringing in the holiday season in downtown Spokane. Several families checked out the attraction Friday.

Daniel Taylor, a Spokane resident, said he's considering bringing his children to the skating ribbon.

"I thought it would be cool to get the kids on the skating ribbon at some point. They're getting to that age where it would be a manageable thing. I know STCU does the carriage ride, I always thought that would be a cool thing to take the little ones out on," Taylor said.
