LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Although gun violence has been on a decline in Louisville in the last couple of years, the city has still seen almost 300 incidents, both fatal and non-fatal, this year alone.
Now, some of the city’s young people want to take action.
A group of students at Central High School is saying “enough is enough” when it comes to gun violence.
They’ve started a group called CHS Against Gun Violence, and are also looking to start their own chapter of a national organization called Students Demand Action.
They say seeing gun violence both close to home and across the country has inspired them to step up.
For sophomores McKenzie Campbell, Tiauna Taylor Bateman and Tahirah Stephens, gun violence is an issue they’ve seen up close.
