LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - One driver was hospitalized and charged after rear-ending another vehicle on Highway 100 near Palo Friday afternoon.

At approximately 4:18 p.m. Friday, authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash at the 5-mile marker on Highway 100 in rural Palo.

Authorities say 42-year-old Tristan Dismukes, of Cedar Rapids, rear-ended a Ford while both vehicles were traveling eastbound.

According to police, Dismukes’ Chrysler blocked the roadway and suffered heavy front-end damage. The Ford sustained significant rear-end damage on the shoulder of the road.

Dismukes was charged with failure to maintain control and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The 27-year-old Ford driver was not injured.
