The drama around Australian F1 driver Oscar Piastri and his McLaren teammate — or rival — Lando Norris has taken another twist.

As the Las Vegas Grand Prix kicks into gear, the 24-year-old went on Instagram and posted an old graphic that featured a quote about McLaren preferring Norris due to his “star quality”.

The source of the quote was former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.

“McLaren prefers the English driver Norris,” Ecclestone said to a sports website in Germany (sport.de).

“He has more star quality and marketing appeal for them, has more camera presence and publicity. That’s probably why he’s better for McLaren.”

The graphic was up for a few hours before it was deleted, but was obviously there long enough to be spotted by fans and circulated
