EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - No. 1 Michigan State hockey suffered its first conference loss of the season, with No. 7 Wisconsin beating the Spartans 5-4 on Friday night.
Daniel Russell, Porter Martone and Ryker Lee all scored for the Spartans, with Martone scoring his eighth and ninth goals of the season.
Wisconsin was able to come back and score four unanswered goals after entering the second period trailing 2-0 to MSU.
Michigan State and Wisconsin will rematch in the second game of the series on Saturday at 7 p.m.
