The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed states to remove fruit-based beverages, ready-to-serve drinks, electrolyte drinks, and energy drinks deceptively sold under the brand or product name “ORS” from retail markets and e-commerce platforms, sources said.
In a letter dated November 19, FSSAI instructed all food commissioners in states and Union Territories to ensure the immediate removal of such misleadingly labelled products. The move comes after FSSAI observed that these beverages continue to be sold despite previous warnings, violating its October order.
