Clean Earth for $3B

Veolia, which is upgrading a hazardous waste disposal plant in Gum Springs, said Friday it is acquiring Clean Earth, a major player in the United States' hazardous waste sector, in a deal valued at $3 billion.

Veolia's expanded footprint in the U.S. will mean more business for the Gun Springs plant, giving it access to expanded streams of appropriate waste, a company spokesman said.

Based in France, Veolia purchased the Gum Springs plant from Alcoa in early 2020 for $250 million. The site included two incinerators and a landfill on 1,400 acres in Clark County in southwest Arkansas.
